Kir-Yianni teams up with Domaine Sigalas on Santorini
KIR-YIANNI TEAMS UP WITH DOMAINE SIGALAS ON SANTORINI
Assyrtico and Xinomavro are widely considered to be among the top Greek grape varieties with many similarities: relatively esoteric wines with high acidity and ageing potential catering to connoisseurs for the most part. The wines of Domaine Sigalas rank among the top examples of Asyrtico, while the Xinomavros of Kir-Yianni figure prominently among the best expressions of the variety. As of this year Sigalas and Kir-Yianni have one more thing in common: last July Kir-Yianni acquired 43% of Domaine Sigalas. Both winemakers share the commitment to quality, the enthusiasm to keep improving further our wines, the continuous research in the vineyard, and the conviction that recognition of Greek wines will come out of work on indigenous Greek grape varieties.
